Primus Spider Stove Set is my absolute favourite stove Product info by Chris OutdoorGear Director Which stove to take backpacking For years I have chopped and changed between spider stoves and jetboil style stoves On a recent weight sensitive trip to New Zealand I decided to make a decision once and for all I got the scales out had all the boil times and efficiency ratings I could find and made my choice Why did I choose the Primus Spider Stove Set It was a combination of Boil time total cooking kit weight and usability/versatility Boil time - Fast Ridiculously fast it is without doubt one of the fastest stoves in its class on the market Total Weight 600g - For me when you take into account the extras that come with this stove it works out every bit as light as taking a jetboil style stove e g Primus Lite XL or similar Just leave bits at home when you need minimum weight it is just so much more versatile The Set includes -Express Spider Stove -Piezo lighter -Insulated case with room for 100g cartridge -Bowl -Wind Shield -1L PrimeTech Pot -Lid with colander Usability - I really don t like using stoves that sit on top of gas cartridges even with the extra legs you often get I see far too many fall over especially when set up on grass The stability of the spider stove makes it so much more user friendly Being able to pick up the pan without it being attached to the burner is a real winner for me While some care/practice is needed you can also turn the burner down to a nice simmer for cooking stews etc a feature sorely missing on many stoves Versatility - No restrictions on having to use specific pans This stove will work with any old pans you have available For the adventurer you can also get a multifuel upgrade kit allowing you to use all sorts of liquid fuels Frying pan and gas pictured not included
