It's been designed with practicallity in mind, the ribbon cable is kept away from the breadboard area and the 3.3 and 5V power rails are carried across too. The 40-way Split is compatible with the Pi A+, B+ and Pi2 and includes the ribbon cable. We also supply the Raspberry Split Mini+ which is slightly smaller.
