For communications, the Pi can connect to Wi-Fi using its own dongle in the usual way, or it can make use of the IoT controller's built-in SIM900 GSM module (requires SIM), plus an 868MHz transmitter/receiver module to communicate with remote sensors.The Blueberry IoT controller is designed with practical applications and conditions in mind. It has an on-board power supply (PSU) which converts mains 100 to 240V AC to the 5V DC required by the Pi, no need for a USB power supply. The 5V DC is protected from brown-outs by a super-capacitor. The PSU also provides 3.3V DC.
