It can communicate with your Raspberry Pi, Arduino or other microcontroller using only 1 data line plus ground using a serial protocol. The sensor has an operating temperature range of -55 to +125°C with an accuracy of ±0.5°C over the range -10 to +85°C. Being intelligent means that you can program upper and lower trigger points into the sensor's alarm function (non-volatile). Each DS18B20 has a unique 64-bit code allowing multiple sensors to share the same 1-wire bus. Software and examples are available on the Internet for Raspberry Pi and Arduino applications.
