The new MacBook from Apple is the lightest and most compact Mac notebook yet. It weighs less than a kilogram. It's just 13.1mm thin. And yet it still manages to pack in big technology. Combining new technology, including an Intel Core M processor, Force Touch trackpad and a versatile USB-C port, with features like the stunning Retina display, ultrafast Wi-Fi and an all-day battery life, the new MacBook redefines the notebook. Redefined keyboard The full-size keyboard on the new MacBook has been re-engineered to be thinner and lighter with an enhanced typing experience. The keys use a new butterfly mechanism to help deliver precision and stability and prevent the wobble that you'd see on a traditional keyboard. The keys feature a larger surface area, thinner construction and deeper curvature creating a more defined, natural space for your fingertips to find as you type. Even the backlighting is more accurate, with individual LEDs for each key that helps keys look clear and sharp. Force Touch trackpad With the Force Touch trackpad, Apple has pushed the trackpad further than ever. It's been refined to provide a responsive, uniform click, no matter where you press. However, the force sensors add a new dimension to using a trackpad, detecting the amount of pressure you're applying to open new possibilities. Use different levels of pressure for new capabilities, such as previewing a file or quickly looking up a definition of a word. It'll also provide haptic feedback- a tactile response to help you feel the action you're choosing. Force Touch also works in addition to the intuitive multi-touch gestures that already help you get around your MacBook with ease. Retina display With three million pixels on show, the Retina display on the new MacBook is positively stunning. Designed to ensure that your eyes won’t be able to discern individual pixels from a normal viewing distance, images take on a new level of realism, while text is sharp and clear. Colours on the Retina display are rich and vibrant, while a high contrast ratio makes blacks appear blacker and whites whiter. It also includes IPS technology to enable a clear view from angles as wide as 178-degrees. Processing, graphics, memory and storage The Intel Core M processor combines energy efficiency and the performance needed to handle everyday tasks. Because it's so energy efficient, the new MacBook generates less heat than previous models, and therefore doesn't require a fan, all while ensuring a long battery life. It also features integrated Intel HD Graphics for astonishing visuals, while 8GB of RAM and 512GB of flash storage ensure fast, responsive performance. USB-C USB-C is small, reversible and versatile. Used for charging, quick USB 3.0 data transfer, connecting external devices and peripherals and video transfer via an additional adapter and HDMI, VGA or DisplayPort, it's one versatile port for a variety of functions. And because of it's reversible design, you'll never find yourself trying to plug something in the wrong way up. Mac OS X El Capitan Building on the successful design of OS X Yosemite, the latest version is enhanced to deliver an updated interface, new full-screen views and a change to the way you arrange the windows on your desktop. In addition to the full-screen view, there’s also a new Split View to let you see the two apps you have open next to each other. Plus, OS X El Capitan has a large variety to new functions and features to make your life even easier. For example, the just wiggle your finger trackpad or shake your mouse to find your cursor, which to help you spot it momentarily grows in size. Also, Spotlight lets you search for your documents and apps using everyday language, helping you to find what you’re looking for. Notepad isn’t just dealing with text, but will be able to handle PDFs, photos, URLs and map locations. If you own and iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 9, then you can move between devices in even smarter ways. Make and receive iPhone calls on your Mac, even if your iPhone is in another room. Send and receive both iMessage and SMS text messages on your Mac. Start an email, document or browsing session on one device and instantly pick it up on another.
